Our Ridden Photo Show returns for a one-off Christmas Special! 

 

We didn't run our popular September Photo and Video Show this year, and so we've brought a version of it to you for Christmas this year instead!

 

Our Fun Photo Show and Ridden Photo Show classes offer options for all ages and abilities! 

​

Rosettes for this special event will be leftover sets from our previous dressage tests - with our old supplier no longer able to provide for us we cannot match these themed rosettes for future events, and I am sure you will all agree, they are far too pretty to go to waste!

The full schedule is below. We have given an indication of judging criteria for each class so please check the schedule carefully for descriptions of all classes and eligible photos! 

 

NOTE: We are no longer able to post anything overseas (due to the new GSPR rules, this includes Northern Ireland). Your results/feedback will be emailed to you instead - this additional service is included in your entry fee in lieu of rosettes, and you of course do not have to pay our standard postage charge.

 

Please make sure if entering different ponies/riders that it is clear, both on your entry and on any photos sent through, who has entered which class.

Christmas Photo Show Schedule

 

Ring One: Fun Photo Classes:

 

Rosettes 1st to 6th place in each class, £3.50 entry fee per class.

 

THESE CLASSES ARE CAPPED AT 30 ENTRIES!

 

All photos MUST include your pony in some way!

Class 1 – Model Call!

Best Headshot (This will be split into (A) Prettiest Mare, (B) Handsomest Gelding if enough entries)

The overall winner of this class will receive a miniature graphite drawing of their winning photo, drawn by myself (Chesca Burrows - artist, Four Paws and a Pencil). This has a current value of £60! 

Class 2 – Summer Days

Share your summer highlight - and tell us a bit about it (100 words or less) - was it a special moment on holiday or at camp, a time where you cracked some confidence demons, or simply a happy, sunny moment spent with your favourite pony?

All entrants in this class will receive a rosette (1st-6th placing as standard, and mini 'Well Done' for all unplaced)

Judging for this class will be based on both the photo and your story behind it.

Class 3 – Family Pony (inc Tiny Tots)

We've all known those ponies that are worth their weight in gold, special ponies that look after everyone in the family - celebrate them here <3 (pre-created collages allowed in this class only)

Class 4 - Groundwork/Young Handler

Do you enjoy working your pony from the ground? This is the class for you!

Class 5 - Festive Fun!

It is Christmas after all - so share your favourite Christmas or winter themed photo in this class!

Photos in Ring One will be judged on the class subject as well as how pleasing the photo is to the eye. Single photos are required for all classes except Class 3, where collages are accepted as long as they are sent pre-assembled as a single image file by the entrant.

Ring Two: Ridden Photo Show Classes:

 

Rosettes 1st to 6th in each class, with all unplaced riders receiving a mini Well Done rosette. Feedback will be posted to all entrants with rosettes. £5 entry fee per class.

Class 5 - Best Walk Photo 

Class 6 - Best Trot Photo 

Class 7 - Best Canter Photo 

Class 9 - Best Polework Photo

Class 10 - Best Jump Photo

All classes in this Ridden Photo Show are judged on the rider's position and competence, as well as the pony's way of going, therefore a clear side-on shot will be most appropriate. Consideration will also be given to how pleasing the photo is to the eye.

 

Riders can enter these classes whether on or off the lead rein. Single photos only (no collages).

​Just like our dressage events, all Ring Two (Ridden Photo Show) classes will receive helpful/constructive feedback on their entry, and a rosette* even if unplaced, so please make sure correct postal details are included with your entry. This friendly and encouraging approach makes the Photo Show the ideal way to try competing for the first time!

​The 'nitty gritty'... (please read!)

​All Photo Show classes are open to all riders/handlers aged 16 and under, and any size horse/pony.​

​

​CLOSING DATE for entries and submission of all Photos: Sunday 6th January 2025

We have capped entries this time, as this is such a busy time of year for family and horse-care commitments, and the Photo Show is always a big undertaking! So please don't leave it til the last minute to enter, as once classes are full, no more entries will be taken under any circumstances.

​

NO professional photographs please, due to copyright as well as the spirit of this competition.

​

For the 'Fun Photo Show' classes where your child is not in the photo themselves, eg Prettiest Mare/Handsomest Gelding, the photos should ideally be taken by your child to remain in the spirit of a child-friendly competition (obviously in the ridden classes your child will be the subject of the photo!)

Entries can be made online via the Enter Now! tab. A standard postage charge (£1.50) applies at checkout, this is for your whole order (not per class), and is for UK postage only (NO postage overseas, due to the new GSPR rules, this also includes Northern Ireland). Your results/feedback will be emailed to you instead - this additional service is included in your entry fee in lieu of rosettes, and you of course do not have to pay our standard postage charge.

Please make Photo Show entries as a separate order to any dressage entries.

Once you have made your entries, please send your photos to demiphotoshow@gmail.com (note this is a new and different email just for the Photo Show entries) PLEASE MAKE SURE EACH IMAGE YOU SEND IS SAVED AS/NAMED WITH YOUR RIDER AND PONY NAME/CLASS!!! I.e. 'Class3AliceTangle' *not* 'IMG007' - any images not named correctly will regretfully not be accepted. Your Order Number would also be appreciated: as you can imagine we receive a lot of entries for this popular event and we need to be able to easily tie up riders with their entry/postal details to speed up sending out the rosettes/sweets and feedback sheets.
